Error of seed Faith Giving-an act of love or an act of selfishness?

A Ministry For The Last Days

THE ERROR OF SEED-FAITH GIVING

by Susan Puzio

I began to notice something was happening to the Body of Christ that was having devastating consequences and causing incredible selfishness and its source was the very popular teaching of sowing seed or seed-faith.

Selfishness: caring only or chiefly for self; regarding one’s own interest chiefly or solely, proceeding from love of self, influenced in actions solely by a view to private advantage. [Webster]Sow a seed and meet “your” need violates the commandment Jesus left with us in Matthew 22:37-40, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment and the second is like unto it. Thou shalt LOVE thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

When our motive in giving is selfish, for our own gain, we disregard the fact that the New Testament is based on love. Love gives! Love never fails! Without love we are nothing. “God’s love seeketh not her own.” I Cor. 13. God so loved the world that he gave.

To love our neighbor as our self would be to see a need and to meet that need. [Not sow a seed and meet “our” need.]I cannot find any scripture that associates money with “seed.” “Seed” is the Word of God. “Being born again not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible by the Word of God.” I Peter 1:23Seed is “sperma” Agricultural and Botanical or offspring. [Vines Greek dictionary]If you sow money in the ground you will not get a harvest! You cannot buy God’s blessings! God Almighty is not moved by dollar bills. Some preachers will say, “sow $100 and God will give you a miracle or buy you a husband or a wife. Need a healing, how about $1,000 seed?” The bigger the seed, the bigger the miracle. What nonsense!

God doesn’t need money,we do! God does not have money in heaven, that he drops out of the sky. His exchange is faith, believing that when you pray he answers.

“But Peter said unto him, thy money perish with thee because thou hast thought that the Gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou has neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent, therefore, of this thy wickedness and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine may heart be forgiven thee.” Acts 8:20-22The Gift of the working of miracles is a free gift. The Gift of healing is free! I heard one preacher say she sowed a $1,000 seed for her daughter’s healing to prophet so and so – [false prophet]. I don’t care what prophet so and so said, I care what Prophet Jesus said!”Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with incorruptible things, as silver and gold. But with the precious blood of Christ.” I Peter 1:18.
When your child has a need, sometimes you see the need and meet it without them asking. When was the last time your children said to you, Mom and Dad, if I give you $5.00 would you love me, would you feed me, would you bless me? No, and our loving Heavenly Father does not behave that way either.”Or what man is there of you whom if his son ask for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask for a fish will give him a serpent? If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ASK Him?” Matthew 7:9-11I believe give and it shall be given but I also believe “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Read Acts 20:35In the Gospel of Luke 11:42, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees when they bragged about their tithing. He didn’t say nice little Pharisees, you gave [or sowed a seed] so I must bless you. Jesus said,
“But woe unto Pharisees! For ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the Love of God. These ought ye to have done and not to leave the other undone.” Go on Jesus! (notice tithing was food, not money, as most “FAITH” preachers want you to believe. They do not live by faith, but by 10%!!) I have never seen one scripture that refers to tithing as money.
“Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites! For ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.” Matt 23:25

Sow your seed and meet your need? No- not out of necessity, but because you love your neighbor as yourself! I taught another Gospel and I was wrong and I am not saying all the preachers who teach this are wicked, but they are misinformed. I had to repent and if you find yourself in this error, repent. Study to show yourself approved, and go on and be a blessing to the people Jesus died for!

“Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth and one convert him, let him know that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall hide a multitude of sins.” James 5:20

“We are of God; he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error.” I John 4:6

This is an addition to my original seed faith article written in 1997. Please do not send me foolish emails about how you gave $58.00 and God made you rich, or how you name your seed and you get what you want.  Don’t tell me it takes money to preach the gospel, I KNOW THAT!!!! (but personal witnessing is free, and there are quite a few things you can do for God that will not cost you anything except your time.

Just ask yourself a question, do you like people doing things for you only because they want something?? No, you hate that, so what makes you think God likes that stuff?

Giving  really is not about you, we know that we will reap what we sow, but you do not want to reap selfishness do you?? Giving is about others. What we do for others. I usually hear about the widow who gave all to the prophet, blah, blah,  (she never gave it a thought about getting her return) you do not need a prophet in the new testament to tell you to give, you are supposed to know that!!

Then I hear don’t touch God’s anointed, but yes, I too am God’s anointed and so are you.18 But as God is true, our word F4 toward you was not yea and nay. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 2 Cor.1–
It is the anointing of Jesus. Only in the old testament did we have “special” anointed ones. And please, touch means touch, not SAY!! I never punched any of your favorite Gods, oh I mean teachers. And yes, tithing, I believe in freewill giving, so does God, you are free. If your pastor cannot live by faith, only by 10%, then how can he expect you to. If he cannot set you free to hear from God about what to give then you are in bondage.(click to listen to my radio broadcasts)
